Six Flags Great Adventure Information

If you are looking for a great family-friendly place, consider Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park in New Jersey. Six Flags Great Adventure was first built in 1974 and has changed a lot since then. As the years went by, more attractions have been added, making Great Adventure a favorite place for people of all ages. Within easy driving distance of New York City, Philadelphia, and other major East Coast cities, it is easy to plan a visit there while on vacation. It is located right next to two other Six Flags attractions: Hurricane Harbor and the Wild Safari Animal Park. Six Flags Great Adventure is the proud home to Kingda Ka, the 2009 world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster.

In 1972, Warner LeRoy, a restaurateur, wanted to build an entertainment center that would work with the idea of time period of capitalizing on what nature had to offer. The original plan was to build seven different venues of entertainment on a spot of property surrounded by woods and streams. This never quite came to pass however, but some of these original ideas were combined into one park that was first called The Enchanted Forest. In 1977, the park was purchased by Six Flags, and they still have control of it today.

Six Flags Great Adventure now contains several different areas throughout the park. Each of these basically has their own theme, and is home to rides, and possibly restaurants and shops. There are areas geared towards children such as Wiggles World, Looney Tunes Seaport, and Bugs Bunny National Park. With these special child-friendly areas, the park makes a perfect place that the whole family can enjoy.

There are some seasonal celebrations and other special celebrations throughout the year at Six Flags Great Adventure. Every autumn the annual Fright Fest is held. The park is redecorated for the season and workers wear scary costumes as they walk around. Fright Fest includes some special shows and attractions. There are also many opportunities for educational days and cause awareness days.
