About Office Max
OfficeMax is a leading office products supplier, both through direct business sales and retail outlets. Customers are served by more than 30,000 associates throughout the United States. The corporate headquarters is in Naperville, Illinois.
OfficeMax Incorporated was first organized as Boise Payette Lumber Company in 1931. In 1957 the company changed the name to Boise Cascade Corporation and in 2003 acquired 100 percent of the voting securities of OfficeMax, Inc., which more than doubled the size of the office products distribution business and expanded the business into retail. The name changed to OfficeMax Incorporated and in 2004 the company sold the paper, forest products and timberland assets, completing the transition from manufacturing-based to office products distribution.
OfficeMax has two business segments, Contract and Retail. OfficeMax, Contract distributes a broad range of office supplies, technology products and office furniture. OfficeMax, Contract sells directly to large corporate and government offices and to small and medium-sized businesses in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
OfficeMax, Retail distributes office supplies and paper, technology products and solutions and office furniture and offers print and document services. The retail segment operates more than 1,000 stores in the U.S. and Mexico. Each store carries an average of 10,500 stock keeping units of name-brand and private label merchandise. Retail stores feature OfficeMax ImPress, which provides print-for-pay and other related services.
In addition to direct sales and store locations, OfficeMax maintains a catalog business and an extensive collection online at www.officemax.com. The website offers an email signup for weekly sales specials available only online and store-specific sales by entering the local zip code.
