Niagara Falls is a series of extremely large waterfalls that flow on the Niagara River. The Niagara River straddles the borders of Ontario, Canada, and New York. Some records suggest the first sighting of the Falls being around 1604 during an exploration of the Canadian wilderness. Tourism grew during the 18th century, even hosting Napoleon Bonaparte’s brother for a time. After the Civil War, the Falls were known as a fantastic honeymoon location. This lead to increased railroad traffic, which helped to supplement America’s growing economy.
