History of Kelloggs

Kellogg’s was first founded in 1906 by Will Keith Kellogg under the name Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flakes Company. At first, the company produced only the Toasted Corn Flakes, which were immensely popular. In 1914, the company began expending world wide. In 1922, the company was renamed the Kellogg Company. By 1938, Kellogg had built plants in Australia and England. In the 70s, the company acquired small companies such as Salad Foods, Mrs Smith’s Pies and Eggo. They continued experimenting throughout the years to create the Pop-Tarts Pastries, Nutri-Grain bars, Special K cereals, Rice Krispies and Frosted Flakes.

They also started venturing in other types of products such as fruit-flavored snacks, cookies, baking products, beverages and syrups. They continued to innovate by purchasing Worthington Foods (vegetarian) in 1999 and Kashi Company (organic) in 2000. They also acquired Keebler Foods Company in 2001 and entered into a partnership with Disney in 2002 to introduce new cereal and snack foods.

Kellogs Today

Today, the Kellogg’s Company offers many brands and types of products, such as the All-Bran products, the Cheez-It crackers, the Eggo products, the Fudge Shoppe cookies, the Special K products, the Kellogg’s stuffing mixes, the Morningstar products, the Murray cookies, the Pop-Tarts pastries, the Rice Krispies treats and the Town House crackers, to name a few. They now offer 23 brands of cereal, 9 brands of baking products, 15 brands of cookies (totaling 108 varieties), 10 brands of crackers (totaling 78 varieties), 28 varieties Eggo products, several brands and varieties of frozen breakfast products, 3 brands of fruit-flavored snacks, 29 Pop-Tarts varieties, 32 varieties of Special K products, 4 brands of vegerarian products and they are the largest cereal producer in the world.
