About Dunkin Donuts
Dunkin’ Donuts is a company that started in Massachusetts, in 1950. It was created by William Rosenberg, who originally had a catering service that was based on being mobile. It was profitable, because he expanded it early in its life cycle, and upon examination on where his profits were coming from, he realized that it came from coffee and doughnuts. At that point, he opened a store, originally called the Open Kettle, and from there he sold coffee, pastries, and sandwiches to workers. Since then, the company has expanded across the United States.
The majority of stores are located in the North East on the United States. The company supports the local sports teams in that area, and many of their marketing campaigns are based upon these references. If you are in the North East, then it will not be difficult to find a store, they are one of the most popular coffee shops in that area. However, in other areas they are harder to find, mainly due to competition.
Their current marketing campaign, “America Runs on Dunkin'” is designed to have customers remember that Dunkin’ Donuts has been feeding and supplying workers with the energy that they need to get through the day. This references Dunkin’ Donuts roots, that the company was originally created for factory workers in the area.
The company is known for their great tasting coffee, and various doughnut flavors. Their coffee, which is brewed constantly, is always fresh, and is made to order. Customers have different tastes, and when ordering coffee, can ask the employee for varying amounts of sugar or cream, if desired. This adds to the value of their customer service, where the customer’s coffee is made especially for them. A recent addition are the different flavor types, whether it is Hazelnut, Coconut, or the very popular French Vanilla. These can be added to the coffee upon request, and it can give even returning customers a new taste.
While most stores are franchise owned, there are similar doughnut flavors in each one. However, the manager for each store has the option to sell various doughnut flavors, which helps them maintain steady customers who prefer certain styles. In addition to this choice of flavors, there are also seasonal flavors as well. One recent flavor during the fall season is the pumpkin flavored coffee and donuts. This blended well with the Halloween season, because people were already used to eating various pumpkin flavored foods, so doughnut and coffee flavors would be a good choice as well.
