Cold Stone Creamery History
In 1988, husband and wife team Donald and Susan Sutherland were eager to find the perfect ice cream. After creating their own version of the cold treat, they opened the first Cold Stone Creamery in Tempe, Arizona. Since that time, over 1,400 stores worldwide have opened and remained successful.
Cold Stone Creamery offers what they refer to as “creations”, because each item they serve is just that. Basically, if there is something you want put into your ice cream, it can be done. They offer numerous varieties of candies, nuts, fillings, and toppings to which you can add to the frozen cream in order to please your taste buds. They actually make their ice cream from scratch each day, making it unlike many other types of ice cream that other stores may offer. Shakes, smoothies and frozen coffees are also available, as well as hand-made ice cream cakes, cupcakes, and ice cream cookies.
The staff at each Cold Stone Creamery seem very pleasant, and will sing songs together as they mix creations, or if tips are placed into the tip jar. In fact, employees are not just interviewed for the job, but they must complete an audition to show that they are comfortable entertaining others. Each experience at Cold Stone can be fun and exciting for the entire family.
Due to the uniqueness of Cold Stone Creamery, prices do tend to be a bit higher than other ice cream shops. Most find, however, that the ice cream at Cold Stone cannot compare to other ice cream and is well worth the price. However, if you are looking for deals in order to save some money, yet still enjoy the frozen treats, there are some discounts available.
