Carowinds is an amusement park that covers over 100 acres and is located on the border of North and South Carolina. Nestled between the city of Charlotte, North Carolina and the town of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Carowinds is conveniently located off of Interstate 77 South. The park was opened in 1973 and was originally to be part of a larger resort area. The park opens in late March and closes in early November.
